Amy Thornbarrow, Deputy Head Nurse

Amy Thornbarrow - Deputy Head Nurse Glusburn

Amy began her career at Ashlands in 2006, to persue her ambition of becoming a Veterinary Nurse. She started training at Myerscough College, as well as being employed full time with the practice, and in November 2009 she successfully qualified as a Registered Veterinary Nurse. Since qualifiying as a Veterinary Nurse she has also been given the role of Deputy Head Nurse at Glusburn which entails ensuring the well being of a professional nursing team. She has a keen interest in physiotherapy and medical nursing, which she hopes to gain knowledge and experience of in the years to come. She has a dog called Sky who came through Ashlands as a stray. Amy fostered her for ten days and three and a half years later she is here to stay.

 
Jade Mitchell

Jade Mitchell - Deputy Head Nurse Ilkley

Jade first came to Ashlands for work experience when she was fifteen years old. After completing her GCSEs she started her nurse training and qualified as a Veterinary Nurse in August 2010. She is the Deputy Head Nurse at Ilkley, liasing closely with Amy to ensure the smooth running of the Practice. Outside of work Jade’s time is used looking after and showjumping her horse, Oscar.

 
Jenny Chapman 

Jenny Chapman

Jenny came to Ashlands in 2004 as a work experience student. She trained as a nurse and qualified in 2007. She has an interest in physiotherapy and rehabilitation, and regularly uses our therapeutic laser to treat musculoskeletal problems. She has three daughters, a cat and a chinchilla.

 

 
Lauren Hartley

Lauren Hartley

Lauren qualified from Myerscough College in July 2013. She has always had a keen interest in animals and has known that she has wanted to become a Veterinary Nurse from a young age. She has a dog, a cat, two gerbils, two guinea pigs and six goldfish.

 
Yvonne Howard

Yvonne Howard

Yvonne worked at Ashlands in 2000 when Anne and Andy took over. She left to pursue a career in supermarket management a few years later, but missed her veterinary nursing so much she returned in 2014. She has two border collies and is a keen dog agility competitor.

 
Ben Ogden

Ben Ogden

Ben has been working in the Veterinary industry since 2004, qualifying as a registered Veterinary Nurse in 2008. Ben has a keen interest in nurse clinics; helping to provide many different services ranging from oral hygiene clinics to healthy pet club examinations. Alongside Bens nursing duties he is also Ashland’s companion animal behaviourist; offering behaviour management consultations and advice to our clients and also running our puppy parties. In his spare time Ben is a scout leader for a local scouting troop and divides his time between his scouting duties and caring for a wide variety of pets ranging from dogs and chickens to ferrets.

 
Laura Nelson, Veterinary Nurse

Laura Nelson

Laura has always had a keen interest in animals and after completing an animal management course went on to study veterinary nursing at Myerscough college, where she graduated as a Registered Veterinary Nurse in July 2015. She is passionate about the care and wellbeing of animals with a keen interest in medical nursing. In her free time she likes to go walking with her two spaniels Jazz and Poppy.

 
Katie Cooper, Veterinary Nurse

Katie Cooper

Katie started her veterinary nurse training in September 2012 and qualified in October 2015. She has been working for Ashlands since December 2014. She loves all small companion animals however she has a particular interest and love for rabbits and small furry exotics. She hopes to further specialise in this area by undertaking various courses in rabbit nursing care and anaesthesia in the future. She enjoys baking in her spare time along with drawing, running and yoga. She owns 3 lovely rabbits called Heidi, Rosie and Saffie and a little, white hamster called Elf.

 
Molly Renwick

Molly Renwick

Molly joined Ashlands in July 2013 and qualified as a veterinary nurse in 2015. She has a keen interest in cats and is studying for her Diploma in Feline Friendly Nursing. She has two mad cats an a dog.

 
Sam Holmes

Sam Holmes

Sam came to us on a placement from the Royal Veterinary College while she was doing her nurse degree. She qualified in July 2016 and has now undertaken a nursing role at Skipton where she has taken charge of the in house laboratory. Sam has had a passion for animals all her life and has kept lizards and snakes as well as dogs and cats. She has recently taken up snowboarding and enjoys video gaming.

Laura Armitage

Laura completed her BSc Veterinary Nursing Degree with Honours at Myerscough College, she graduated in July 2016 and helps run our Glusburn surgery. She has interests in rehabilitation and physiotherapy

 

Joe Bromfield

Joe is the newest addition to our nursing team, he qualified in July 2017. His interests lie in exotics and surgery. In his free time he enjoys scuba diving, he has the advanced open water qualification and night diving. He also enjoys horse riding.

Charlotte Stamp

Charlotte was first interested in veterinary nursing at the age of 14. At 16yrs old she got her first job as a trainee nurse where she stayed for 5 1/2yrs before joining Ashlands working for previous owners Pam Braithwaite & Geoff & Geraldine Hale. She has worked for Andy & Anne since they took over the practice in 2000, apart from a brief absence when she went to work for a pet insurance company as a veterinary advisor. She now works part time at Ilkley helping with the nursing duties and completing insurance claims.

 

Ella Sievewright, Trainee Nurse

Ella joined us as an apprentice nurse after her GCSEs. Alongside her training she helps run the Skipton surgery and has also taken on the organisation of the weekly surgery at Grassington. Ella is a keen member of the Upper Wharfedale Young Farmers Club and has recently won the Northern Area Horse Judging competition

 

Georgia Brayshaw, Trainee Nurse

Georgia started her training at Myerscough College in January 2017. She is based at our Glusburn surgery.
