BVA Hip Scheme

The BVA Hip Scheme was set up to reduce inherited hip problems in dogs.

Hip dysplasia is a term which includes a number of specific developmental and other abnormalities involving the hip joint.

 

The purpose of the hip scheme is to reduce the incidence of the disease in dogs used for breeding.

BVA Elbow Scheme

Elbow dysplasia describes the abnormal development of the elbow. The term includes a number of specific abnormalities, which affect different sites in the joint.

The purpose of the elbow scheme is to reduce the incidence of the disease in dogs used for breeding.

In order to obtain suitable xrays for submission the dog has to be anaesthetised and then positioned correctly. The cost for either of these is £150 plus the BVA cost of £58.50.
